老尼的小球戰術會讓球賽變的很好看，可讓球隊的戰績不是很好看雖然強調"進攻再進攻"，可不爭的事實是:要贏最實在的還是"防守" 球有投不進的時候，可防守不用看運氣，只要做的夠扎實就能反敗為勝(像是馬刺) 國外有篇是關於改善勇士的７個方法: Step 1: Fire Don Nelson and eat the remaining $15 million or so on his deal. He was the right coach for Davis' team. But Baron is gone. Now Nelson is an albatross. Nothing moves forward until he's gone. 第一步:炒掉老尼。對於BD的球隊他是最佳的教練人選，可是BD已經去了快艇。 Step 2: Hire Keith Smart as the interim coach and see what happens. He'll play Wright and Randolph and he'll probably get the Warriors approximating some version of defense. 第二步:聘請Keith Smart擔任代理教練，然後靜觀其變。至少他會讓A.軟豆腐以及B.Wright能夠發揮，大概也能將勇士的防守帶向另一個層面。 Step 3: If Smart won't start Wright or Randolph, or Wright and Randolph, then hire somebody who will. Hold on to Maggette until he can be handed back to the Clippers in a year or so.
