In doubles action, the newly formed team of Daniela Hantuchova and Anasatasia
Myskina won the title in their first-ever partnership. The superstar duo
defeated Kveta Peschke and Francesca Schiavone 60 36 75.
Hantuchova and Myskina led 5-1 in the final set and had four match points on
Myskina's serve. The pair lost that game and allowed Peschke/Schiavone to come
back to 5-3, when they had another match point on Hantuchova's serve. Again,
not willing to back down, Peschke/Schiavone remained in the match to level
the score to 5-5, until eventually the team of Hantuchova/Myskina won the
title on their sixth match point, when Peschke double faulted.
The doubles title at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix serves as Hantuchova's
sixth career Sony Ericsson WTA Tour doubles title and her second of the year.
This is Myskina's fourth career doubles title and also second of the season.
The team of Peschke/Schiavone were competing in their third event together,
having previously reached semifinals this year at Stanford and Luxembourg.
