"We played each other in our last tournament, in Australia, so I knew it was
going to be a tough match and the first set was very close," Hantuchova said. "
But I kept going for my shots and I played a solid game - much better than the
first round."
Zheng was hampered by a thigh injury in the second set, but Hantuchova was wary
not to let her guard down at any stage: "I could see she was struggling and I
knew it was just important to stay focused and not think too much about it."
Hantuchova took home the title at the Dusit Resort in both 2011 and 2012, but
since then has slipped out of the Top 50. Next she will face another Chinese
player, Duan Ying-Ying, who had just taken the first set 6-1 when her opponent,
Zhu Lin, retired.
