比賽報導和賽後訪問 FINAL FACTS * Hewitt broke in the fifth game of the first set and the first game of the second set, which proved to be the difference in the match. * Hewitt captured his second career title in Scottsdale (2000) by winning his first ATP title of the year and improving his match record to 9-1 in 2003 and 17-2 lifetime in Scottsdale. He has won at least one title the last six years (since '98). * Hewitt did not drop a set during the week and he held serve 42 of 46 games while breaking opponents 19 times. * Hewitt only lost 12 points in 10 service games in the final and he saved two break points at 5-4 in the second set. * This was the first all-Aussie final since Apr. 16, 2000 when Andrew Ilie defeated current Hewitt coach Jason Stoltenberg in the Atlanta final. * Hewitt is 24-5 lifetime against his countrymen, including 15-1 since June 1999. * This was also the first all-wild card title match since May 2001 when Andrea Gaudenzi defeated Markus Hipfl in St. Poelten, Austria. * Philippoussis defeated three of Argentina's Top 6 players in Juan Ignacio Chela, David Nalbandian and Mariano Zabaleta en route to his first ATP final since Adelaide in January 2002 (l. to Henman). * Philippoussis was appearing in his third Scottsdale final (14-3 lifetime), having won the title in 1997 and reaching finals in 1995 and this year. WHAT THE PLAYERS SAID: HEWITT: "I played solid out there. I played my service games every effectively and didn't make too many unforced errors. When I got the opportunity to break serve I was able to do it. I took advantage of the chances I had and I could have even broken two more times, one more time in each set. He came up with bombs every time (on break point). It's tough to get any rhythm against a guy who could do that. The key is cleaning up your own service games and taking opportunity on his." "I mixed it up well and didn't hit a double fault until the last game serving for the match. My second serve was pretty heavy and he couldn't attack it too much and put me under that much pressure. I felt like I played a pretty smart match out there. I did what I had to and I'm getting more and more confident which is good." "Any time you win any kind of tournament is fantastic. For me coming here, it's only my second tournament of the year after the Aussie Open. For me to have another good start is important and I enjoy playing this stretch (Scottsdale, Indian Wells, Miami) as I've said before." "I got better and better as the week went on and that's a real bonus." PHILIPPOUSSIS: "I think I was a step slow today to all the shots. Lleyton played the way I thought he was going to play. I felt like I didn't start hitting the ball decent until the last few of games of the second set. It was a good week for me and I take positives away from this week." "I'm very happy with the week I've had. I had four tough matches, three to Argentines. They all play the same like Lleyton's style, so that took a toll on me. I got a lot of balls back, I played some good tennis, it was a positive week." "I had two break points at 4-5 in the second set and I didn't hit the ball like I should have. If it goes to five-all who knows what would have happened." BLAKE-MERKLEIN CLAIM DOUBLES TITLE American James Blake and Mark Merklein of the Bahamas captured their first ATP doubles title as a team, defeating singles finalists Lleyton Hewitt and Mark Philippoussis 6-4, 6-7(2), 7-6(5) in the final of the Franklin Templeton Tennis Classic. It was Blake's second career doubles title (TMS Cincinnati w/T. Martin) and the third for Merklein (1997 Orlando, 2002 Costa do Sauipe). Hewitt was attempting to win singles and doubles at the same tournament for the first time. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: 203.68.129.48
