Juande Ramos sees our high-profile friendly against AS Roma as the perfect preparation for the big kick-off in the league six days later. Runners-up in Serie A and Italian Cup winners last season, Roma visit the Lane on Sunday, August 10, 3pm. We then travel to Middlesbrough on the opening weekend of the 2008-09 Barclays Premier League season. Roma are one of Italy's most famous clubs and regular competitors in the Champions League - Manchester United put them out in the quarter-finals last season. They include renowned striker Francesco Totti in their ranks alongside the likes of Christian Panucci, Alberto Alquilani, Daniele De Rossi and Simone Perrotta - all in Italy's Euro 2008 squad. Head Coach Juande said: "Roma are a good team who will be playing in the Champions League this coming season and so will provide us with a stern test. "We will try our best to ensure the team put on a good match for the supporters.
