CAPTAIN FOR THE CAPTAINS Look for Mike Sarbaugh to be named the new manager of the Lake County Captains. Luis Rivera, the only manager the Captains have had since the franchise moved to Eastlake in 2003, is expected to be promoted to Kinston. Sarbaugh managed Mahoning Valley to the New York-Penn League title last season. Most of the Mahoning players will be playing for the Captains. …. Torey Lovullo, Kinston’s manager, will move up to Akron. Brad Komminsk, who had managed Akron, is slated to become outfield coordinator for the Tribe’s minor-league system. Teams claim according to the final finish, and after 28 clubs passed on him, the last team standing was Boston because the Red Sox won the World Series. Boston, always looking for left-hand pitching, claimed him. The Indians didn't want to lose him, but they needed a roster spot and since Traber didn't pitch a single inning last season while he recuperated from elbow surgery, the Indians thought this put him back at least one more year as a major-league prospect. …. Franklin Gutierrez, obtained from the Dodgers in the Milton Bradley deal, is batting .345 with six homers in the Venezuelan League. Now injury free, the center fielder had been slated to return to Akron, but instead could be on his way to Buffalo. …. Ryan Garko and Kevin Kouzmanoff helped their cause by hitting well above .300 in the Arizona Fall League. Last week, Kouzmanoff fell into the dugout chasing a foul fly, hurt his back and will return to Cleveland on Tuesday for a checkup. It doesn't appear serious. ….
