The club already has a good idea what the decisions will be but is using the next couple days to cement them. Todd Hollandsworth (.209 average in 43 at-bats, entering Tuesday) is ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ generally expected to get the fourth outfielder spot, despite the hot spring of Jason Dubois (.442 average in 43 at-bats). Danny Graves (3.95 ERA in 13 2/3 innings), Steve Karsay (5.54 in 13 innings) and Jason Davis (3.31 in 16 1/3 innings) are fighting for the last bullpen spot. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^三搶一 Shapiro said although Matt Miller (4.91 in 11 innings) has been eased ^^^^^^^^^^^^ into camp after last year's elbow injury, he's still guaranteed an Opening Day roster spot. Kelly Shoppach and Einar Diaz are in the mix to back up Victor Martinez. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Shoppach came along slowly at the plate, batting .179 in 28 at-bats, while Diaz has raked with a .367 average in 30 at-bats. But Shoppach has been superior defensively, throwing out four of five baserunners attempting to steal, while Diaz has committed four errors and thrown out only two of nine stealers. The Indians are skeptical that Shoppach has anything left to prove after spending the last two seasons at the Triple-A level. They seem to think he'd be better served to be a big-league backup. Ramon Vazquez is the favorite for the utility infielder spot, especially ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ after former top prospect Brandon Phillips missed a week with strep throat.
