Ivanisevic 'to retire soon'

Former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic is planning to announce his
retirement in the near future, according to his agent. Ivanisevic, who
turns 32 on 13 September, returned to the ATP Tour in February after
undergoing left shoulder surgery last year.
But the Croatian suffered another blow when an elbow injury limited him
to only three tournaments.
"He is going to retire soon. He's thinking about it more and more these
days," Ivanisevic's agent Gerard Tsobanian said at the US Open on Sunday.
"He is still suffering from an elbow injury and does not want to opt for
surgery."
Ivanisevic failed to win a match during his brief comeback and was a pale
shadow of the player who won Wimbledon as a wild card in 2001 after being
a runner-up in 1992, 1994 and 1998.
He has won 22 ATP singles titles during his career and rose to second in
the world rankings in July 1994.
News of his impending retirement follows the exits of Pete Sampras and
Michael Chang.
