The Rockets had not corrected much of anything that plagued them on the road
trip, turning the ball over, missing free throws, playing defense that was
about as effective as a serious case of halitosis.

They led at half anyway, but time was rapidly running out. When they barely
showed up at all for the start of the second half, the Clippers pounced,
rolling long enough to build a 21-point lead and sending the Rockets back on
the road for the next four games with a four-game losing streak and a 117-109
loss that was much worse.

The Clippers began the second half with a 25-6 run, scoring on 12 of 13
possessions. The Rockets did enough to head into the fourth quarter down 13,
but Jamal Crawford slammed the door. Crawford scored the first 12 Clippers
points of the fourth quarter, needing less than three minutes to build a
19-point lead on his way to a season-high 30 points in 30 minutes.

The Rockets had one more run in them and were within 12 with less than three
minutes left, but James Harden missed a fast break 3, and within another
minute, Rockets coach Kevin McHale was clearing his bench.

The Rockets, however, were not beaten in those closing minutes, or even with
Crawford’s blast to begin the fourth quarter. As with the road trip that
preceded Tuesday’s loss, they were unable to defend the Clippers, giving up
53.8 percent shooting. They were unable to take care of the ball, committing
16 turnovers. And they were unable to make enough free throws, hitting just
14 of 25.

Midway through the second quarter, the Rockets had done little to repair the
issues that beat them on the road. They were still turning the ball over,
with nine turnovers in 18 minutes. They were still missing free throws,
making 5 of 11 with another taken away with a lane violation. They were still
giving up far too many open looks.

They were still very much in the game, trailing by just two, largely because
of a big first quarter from Harden and strong work on the boards. But they
were not taking away almost anything and giving away far too much.

With less than six minutes remaining in the half, however, Rockets coach
Kevin McHale ignore the Clippers’ size and went to his small lineup, anyway.
The Rockets immediately got a much needed spark.

Carlos Delfino, forced into a matchup with Blake Griffin, hit a 3-pointer
while the Clippers power forward sagged off him, and then set up Jeremy Lin
for another 3. When the Clippers tried to post up Griffin inside, Delfino
poked the ball loose, sending Chandler Parsons on a break. With Parsons
sinking a 3-pointer and Lin putting in a jumper with a foot on the line, the
Rockets had a 13-4 run to their largest lead, 52-45.

They still had not found a way to stop the Clippers, however. Crawford showed
a glimpse of the the blitz to come. The Clippers reduced the Rockets lead to
one at halftime, then rolled long enough through the third quarter to spend
the rest of the night just showing off.
但火箭擋不下快艇, 擋不下Crawford的暴衝, 蘇惹 >"<
