"He's like a stepfather to me. He brought me up in this league." Sloan said he was happy for Natt to have been given an opportunity with the Kings. "I know it has to be a tough situation to go into, but that's how you get a chance to move on," Sloan said. Sloan got his start in Utah early in the 1988-89 season, when he was promoted from assistant to head coach. The Jazz finished the season 40-25 under Sloan, but the first nine games were a challenge as the team went 3-6. Sloan didn't, however, have to motivate his team following a 48-point loss, as Natt was doing after the Kings fell to the Phoenix Suns on Monday. "I don't know if we had that (big of a loss), but our first trip back East, we lost every game," Sloan said.
