WHAT IT MEANS: The Knicks came to Washington looking to win their sixth
straight on Wednesday.
But they hit a Wall in the process.
John Wall led the Wizards to a 106-96 win with 19 points, nine assists and
five rebounds.

DEFENSE RESTS: The Knicks defense was a step slow against Washington, and the
Wizards made them pay.
New York had trouble containing penetration from the perimeter all evening
long.
And even when it was contained, the Knicks struggled to contest shots.
The Wizards also torched the Knicks (31-16) from beyond the arc.

NO 20 FOR TYSON: Tyson Chandler had a chance to do something that just one
NBA player had done in the last 18 seasons -- record four straight games of
at least 20 rebounds.
It didn't happen.
Chandler finished with 13 rebounds and eight points against Washington.
Anthony had 31 points for the Knicks. Stoudemire had 19 points and Raymond
Felton, who shook John Wall with a first-half crossover, finished with 17.
The Knicks shot 40 percent from the field.

"You let a team shoot 53 percent, that's a recipe for disaster," Chandler
said.

And just in case you're wondering, it doesn't sound like Woodson plans to
insert Stoudemire into the starting lineup anytime soon.
"I'm not real worried about that. I'm really not," Woodson said. "We're
winning the way we are right now. I don't see anything wrong with that."

WOODY CREDITS VETS FOR ACCEPTING ROLES: Some Knicks this season have accepted
roles they aren't accustomed to playing. The prime example, of course, is
Amar'e Stoudemire, who is playing on off of Woodson's bench.

"You got to accept roles if you're going to win at a high level," Woodson

He attributes it partially to the age of the team (New York is the oldest

"A lot of these guys are veteran players and they’ve been around the block a
few times. Their clocks are ticking too in terms of trying to win the
ultimate goal and that’s a championship," Woodson said.
