The lawyer of Cameroon striker Sammy Eto'o expects an answer by Tuesday
from Real Madrid over the player's future.
Barcelona have tabled an offer for Eto'o, whose registration is co-owned
by Real and Mallorca, and also made a contract offer to the forward.
Real Madrid are demanding that Barcelona provide details of their contract
offer, but Eto'o's lawyer, Jose Maria Mesalles, insists they do not have to
disclose Barca's deal and that it is up to Real to make a counter offer.
"For us, the term finishes Tuesday at midnight," said Mesalles. "I believe
that Madrid must take the bull by the horns and equal the offer that has been
made at a general level, sporting and economic.
"The first and most important thing is to give a place to him in the first
team to play from the first official game. And soon to give him a spot for
the Champions League.
"If they fulfill this, we will not have problems in respect to the conditions
of the contract, although we continue showing that our desire is to play with
Barcelona."
Real are unlikely to meet Eto'o's demands of a first team place, with his
non-EU status proving a stumbling block.
