The Lakers wanted a point guard like Raymond Felton but they couldn't
muster the players for a trade, so when the tenth pick rolled around,
they went for the next best commodity: the elusive seven-footer. This
one was a high-schooler out of New Jersey, baby-faced Andrew Bynum.
Lakers GM Mitch Kupchack knows this is a long-long-term investment, as
the best words he could muster about Bynum were: "He's seven feet tall
and 17 years old." Thanks for the info. Hopefully Kobe won't treat him
the way Jordan treated Kwame Brown in Washington, which would pretty
much ruin Bynum's development.
The Lakers' second rounder, Gonzaga's Ronny Turiaf, is a Carlos Boozer-like
player. He can help Bynum along when Kobe won't.
