Press Conference with LUIS HORNA
Coria vs. Horna 6:2, 3:6, 6:2
Q: Congratulations. This must have been the best fight you had so far.
HORNA: Yes, it was okay. But I don’t get any more points from that. I’m
disappointed as well.
Q: It was a tense match as well at times, wasn’t it?
HORNA: Yes, it was tough, long ralleys. Very exciting, it was okay.
Q: Are there any problems between the two of you?
HORNA: No.
Q: Don’t you think you played well?
HORNA: I think I played well. I’m happy now. To jump no another level I have
to try and not go away from the court like I did in the last few games. I
have to try to be more consistent there. That is the thing I have to work on.
Q: You must feel you are quite close now to do that.
HORNA: Yes, I had a couple of good matches in the past, beat a couple of top
ten players already. I think I have the level now. I have to keep working on
my game and my mentality, and I think that is the way to be a top player.
Q: The statistics showed quite a high percentage of unforced errors. Was that
because you were trying to attack him a lot?
HORNA: I was taking a lot of risks, I needed to, because the points were going
on too long for me. I think I had 36 unforced errors, and something like 34
winners. Maybe a few less and the story could be different.
Q: You said there were no problems between you, but at one point in the second
set when he came out to the net and you were wagging your finger, what was
that about?
HORNA: I’m not going to talk about it. That just happens when there is
tension in the match, but there is nothing to talk about.
Q: He sometimes had problems with players in the past...
HORNA: I’m not going to talk about it.
Q: Do you feel you have something to build on from today?
HORNA: I think in the last five or six weeks I have been improving so many
things with my coach. I jumped from 68 or 70 to 44 or 43. Now we have to talk
about what happened in the last five weeks, what was good, and what needs to
be changed to improve to play a good French Open. Until now we didn’t have
time, because I was always playing or travelling, but now we have ten days to
practice and calm down and see what we have to improve. I think my game is
getting better, maybe I have to work a bit on the fitness, get more power and
get faster. That would be a good thing to work on.
