Day 7 - David Nalbandian Interview
Day 7 - David Nalbandian Interview
Sunday, May 29, 2005
Q. What happened in the two last sets? Were you tired?
DAVID NALBANDIAN: No, no. He was playing very well. I think he deserved
to win.
Q. Are you surprised by this result? Were you expecting to win the match?
DAVID NALBANDIAN: Well, you always want to win, of course. It surprised
me how well he played, that's true.
Q. (In English.) Did your opponent surprise you with his game, did you
know him previously?
DAVID NALBANDIAN: (In English.) No, we never play before. But I know
something, and he play good.
Q. (In English.) Any particular problem with his game?
DAVID NALBANDIAN: (In English.) He play very good.
THE MODERATOR: Back to Spanish, please.
Q. Were you feeling tired physically? Was there a problem physically?
DAVID NALBANDIAN: No, not at all.
Q. How do you assess this French Open? What do you think of this past week?
DAVID NALBANDIAN: I would have liked to have won, obviously. But he was
playing incredibly well. He was hitting winners. He was hitting balls
into the corners. It's very difficult to play against that sort of opponent.
As I said, recently he played extremely well. I tried to fight back, but
that wasn't good enough.
Q. Was it just a question of him playing better or did you just lower
your expectations?
DAVID NALBANDIAN: No. He played very well. I felt I couldn't really do
very much. He was pushing his game to the limit. Everything was coming
out well for him. So, obviously, I wanted to win. But this was a very
complicated match for me. He played better.
