Brazil adds Kuerten to Davis Cup team before match vs. Canada

SAO PAULO, Brazil -- Three-time French Open winner Gustavo Kuerten was included
in Brazil's Davis Cup squad on Tuesday to face Canada next week.
The clay-court tie in Group 1 of the Americas Zone takes place from April 6-8
in the southern Brazilian city of Florianopolis.
Kuerten, ranked 670th in the world and 22nd best among Brazilians, was chosen
despite a 2-6 singles record this season, his first playing regularly on tour
since hip surgery in September 2004.
Captain Francisco Costa, a former player who took over the squad in February,
also included Flavio Saretta, Marcos Daniel and Andre Sa in the team.
The country's third-ranked player, Ricardo Mello, was left out.
