GERRARD TANK RUNNING ON EMPTY -Steven Gerrard is worn out Sunday June 10,2007 By John Richardson http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/9394 STEVEN Gerrard has revealed he is completely burnt out after an exhausting season which has only just come to an end for the Liverpool skipper. Gerrard confesses that he barely has any energy left to see him through his big wedding day on Saturday when he marries fiancee Alex Curran. He admitted: 「I am looking forward to next season with Liverpool but right now I need a long rest. It's as simple as that. 隊長說他已經累到連結婚都沒力了。他現在需要放大假。「Having just two-and-a-half weeks off after the World Cup last summer wasn't enough. Then we went into another hectic playing schedule, Liverpool going all the way in the Champions League. A traumatic season for head coach Steve McClaren and his players at least ended on a promise of better to come when the 2008 European Championship qualifying stage comes to a head in the autumn. 「We won in Tallinn in difficult circumstances,」 Gerrard added. 「It was the last game of the season, everyone was tired and everyone was looking forward to a rest. 「Results of late hadn't been good. There was a lot of pressure on the team after the recent criticism and so I thought the boys did well in Estonia. 「Playing for England, never mind the results, is always big. But if the results aren't what you should be obtaining, then the pressure gets more and more. 「Scoring a goal fairly early on against Estonia took a lot of the pressure off. When that first goal came you could feel the weight coming off your shoulders. 「Sometimes the stuff levelled at the team is over the top but as players we have to take that on the chin. We are playing for our country. We are the best players in the country so we expect a lot of pressure but sometimes it's difficult to perform when the pressure is so high. 「I think we have done well in the last two games against Brazil and Estonia.
