The Pick: Aaron Hicks, CF, Long Beach (CA) Woodrow Wilson
The buzz: Hicks was the No. 4 player in the RivalsHIGH 100. He is a
strong-armed and athletic player who could have gone higher as a pitcher,
but he wants to play outfield. He is a very good baserunner and has a lot
of raw power that needs harnessed and refined.
27. Minnesota Twins - from LA Angels
The Pick: Carlos Gutierrez, RHP, Miami
The buzz: The third Miami Hurricane to be selected in the first round,
Gutierrez has already had Tommy John surgery. He has good movement on his
fastball, but has struggled with inconsistency.
31. Minnesota Twins - for Torii Hunter
The Pick: Shooter Hunt, RHP, Tulane
The buzz: Hunt has proven himself at a high level in college baseball
despite only pitching for four years. He has a Major League-plus fastball
already, and should only get better as he continues to master the changeup.
60. Minnesota Twins
The Pick: Tyler Ladendorf, SS, Howard College
The buzz: Ladendorf has been a 34th round selection the previos two years
and there is no doubt he has been able to raise his draft stock in that time.
