BIG-MATCH FACTS
* The Monday match between reigning World, European and Premier League
champions Manchester United and mid table Middlesbrough pits the clubs
top and bottom of the Premier League's "Last Six Current Form" table,
going into this round of matches.
* It sees the youngest and oldest Premier League managers plotting tactics,
with Middlesbrough's 38-year-old boss Gareth Southgate opposing Sir Alex
Ferguson, who will be 67 on Wednesday.
* United are vying for a 50th league victory over the Teessiders in their
101st meeting.
* The Red Devils are unbeaten in six league games; 'Boro travel in search
of a first win in eight top-flight matches.
* The Mancunians are hoping to make Middlesbrough their seventh successive
Premier League victims at Old Trafford. United are unbeaten in 12 home
league games. They've won six and drawn one of their seven this season,
and won 11 and drawn one since losing to Manchester City on 10 February.
* 'Boro travel in danger of tumbling to a third successive away league
defeat, following loses at Hull and Fulham. Southgate's side have only
recorded two victories on their top-flight travels this term, against
Wigan and Aston Villa.
* Middlesbrough have a better Premier League record against Manchester United
at Old Trafford than on Teesside, having gained 13 points at the Theatre of
Dreams and only nine on home turf.
* Distance between the clubs: 123 miles (198 kilometres)
KEY PLAYER NOTES
* If on the field from the outset:
- Michael CARRICK will be making his 100th start for Manchester United.

United shirt.

HEAD TO HEAD
* These clubs are meeting for the second time this season at Old Trafford.
The first was on 23 September when United won a third round Carling Cup
tie 3-1 with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs and Nani.
* The Teessiders have proved awkward opponents for United over the years.
They've not failed to take points off United in each of the last seven
seasons, and have only returned from Old Trafford without any points in
one of the last five league visits.
