Pity his first competitive match in number seven shirt had to be in
makeshift role

Usually looks as calm as usual in this role but coming up against Fellaini
was a different matter

The steadying influence hasn’t been lost in the last eight months and
it was needed

Even the arrival of new challenger Alex Buttner couldn’t spark Frenchman
into his best form

Started off brightly but then disappeared as Everton got a hold of the game

On tenterhooks after a typical booking and never stamped authority
on engine room

Covered acres of space to make himself available but too often the ball
didn't arrive

A steady and at times effective and promising debut from the Japanese
midfielder

Sadly didn't get opportunity on the left to keep RVP on bench
