DeCarlo, a shortstop and closer for the Jaguars, has a scholarship to play at Georgia. "Playing in the Southeastern Conference would be great as well," he said. "I'm trying to keep an open mind about things." If the 6-foot-1, 210-pounder is selected high in the draft, he will sit down with his parents, Mike and Sue, and weigh the financial package being offered. As part of baseball's new collective bargaining agreement, each club has an aggregate signing bonus for its picks in the first 10 rounds of the draft. The amount is based on where a club picks in each round and how many picks it has. The prescribed signing bonus for the No. 1 pick, owned by the Houston Astros, is $7.2 million. Picks from No. 2 to 338 are expressed as a percentage of the No. 1 pick.
