第11~14輪的球探報告

Blake Brewer RHP R-R 6-5 180 Sandy Creek 3/2/1990
SCOUTING REPORT: Brewer is the younger brother of Brent Brewer, the Milwaukee
Brewers’ second-round draft choice in 2006, although there isn’t much
physical resemblance between them. At 6-foot-5 and 180 pounds, Blake is long
and lean. Brent is more muscular. Brewer is a projection-pitcher with a long,
loose and easy arm action and a present 86-90 mph fastball. His mid-70s
curveball gets proper rotation and occasional hard spin and is a potential
strikeout pitch in the future.—DAVID RAWNSLEY

Brandon Turner 2B L-R Jun-00 188 Mississippi State 2/15/1987
SCOUTING REPORT (3/1): Turner red-shirted as a Mississippi State freshman, only
to make a huge statement last spring when he topped the Bulldogs with a .399
average—the second-best mark in the Southeastern Conference. He also added
three homers and 48 RBIs. He’s primarily a line-drive hitter who does a good
job of using all parts of the field with gap power. His bat is his best tool as
he lacks the range and arm strength to play shortstop. Turner started the 2007
season at that position for the Bulldogs, but eventually found his way to
second base—his more natural position. His hands and range are acceptable
there, and he is fluid in turning the double play.—ALLAN SIMPSON
UPDATE (5/15): A major contributing factor in Mississippi State’s first losing
campaign in more than three decades was the loss of Turner, who hurt his
hamstring in the opening weekend of the 2008 season. The injury lingered all
spring, even though Turner tried unsuccessfully a couple of times to play
through it. He ended up playing in just eight games, hitting .217-1-4. There’s
a strong sentiment that a team will take a run at Turner as a draft-eligible
sophomore anytime after the 10th round and let him play this summer in the
Cape Cod League, before making a decision whether he is healthy enough to sign
him.—AS

Danny Pertusati 2B/OF R-R Jun-00 185 Damien 4/27/1990
SCOUTING REPORT: Though he was the quarterback on his high school football team
, has decent athletic ability and hit .512 with eight homers and 14 steals in
15 attempts this spring, most scouts consider Pertusati a marginal prospect and
not ready for the daily grind of pro ball. He spent much of this season as a
high school senior in center field, but has the actions to play in the middle
infield and will likely end up at second base. He’s an average runner but may
get the bat knocked out of his hands initially if he makes the immediate jump
to pro ball.—ALLAN SIMPSON

Bryan Evans RHP R-R 6-3 205 UC Davis 2/25/1987
SCOUTING REPORT: Evans didn’t perform as well as righthanders Eddie Gamboa or
Brad McAtee, the Nos. 1-2 starters in the UC Davis rotation, but a number of
scouts believe he will be the first UCD pitcher drafted, possibly in the top 10
rounds. With a week remaining in the regular season, he was just 3-3, 5.06 but
had walked only 20 while striking out 62 in 69 innings. His record is a
significant improvement from his first two years at UC Davis, when he went a
combined 8-15, 5.27. Evans has a long, loose arm and gets good movement on a
fastball that peaks at 93 mph. He also has an acceptable slider, but has
limited feel for a changeup.—ALLAN SIMPSON
