Q: When Dray came in, he said that quarters one through three, you couldn’t mov e, but something clicked in the fourth quarter and you just showed up. What was it that clicked? Did the pain go away? Did you just lock in? What was it? Jimmy: I just thought it was winning time—doing certain things the team needed me to do to help us win. I finally started moving a little better, and I was jus t happy to be able to compete with my guys. Q: Is that “Playoff Jimmy”? Jimmy」? Jimmy: We’re not doing that. It’s just part of the game. Your body warms up, y ou move better, you gain confidence, people start talking to you—then good thin gs happen. Q: You said people started talking to you—were you talking about Dillon Brooks? Jimmy: Yeah. Jimmy: 對。 (0:47 超好笑) Q: Anything you want to share that he said? Jimmy: No. I mean, I like it. We all like when people start chirping. It’s been that way the entire series. I don’t think he’s going to change. We’re going to compete and do what we’re supposed to do in Houston. Q: Could you describe the final rebound you got? Steve pumped it up as one of th e biggest plays. What did you see there? Jimmy: I saw that I wasn’t battling with Steven Adams on that last play, so I w as able to go up there and be a semi-athlete. But I wanted that reboud. I told Dray, “If you get a stop, I’ll get the rebound.” He got the stop, I got the r ebound. Q: What were the past four or five days like for you after the fall? And how clo se did you feel on Saturday? Jimmy: A lot of pain, I’m not going to lie. My dawg Armando has been working ev ery minutes and hours to make sure I was able to play. The training staff has be en incredible, and my teammates are incredible, making sure I was OK, checking o n me constantly. Today I woke up and felt good enough, so I was able to go out a nd compete. Q: Kerr said that if this was the regular season, you might have been out a week or more. Is that true? Jimmy: I’d like to think so. I’m not saying I’m not hurting, but it’s a good kind of pain when it’s for winning. They brought me here to help do something special, and if I’m out there on the floor, I’m expected to produce for the wi n—and I am glad I was able to do that tonight. Q: Did it hurt more with the bumps or falls? You definitely hit the floor a few times. Jimmy: Yeah, a few times. But I’m a big boy now, like 35 years old. I know how to handle that stuff—just get treatment, rest, dominos, coffee, and kids. Tha t’s the formula for success. Q: On Saturday, Steve Kerr compared you to Andre Iguodala in terms of being on t he bench and helping like a coach. What was it like to watch them win without yo u? How proud was you and what was your role? And that fur coat—tell us about it . Jimmy: That fur coat is Alo’s. Y’all go to Aloe, get y’all some of that stuf f (laughs). As for the Dre comparison, I think it’s a crazy one. I played with him back in my Miami days, and I know everything he does is about winning and do ing the right things. Seeing my guys go out there and get a win doesn’t surpris e me, because I watch how they train and prepare every day. When you pour all th ose winning habits into a bucket, eventually when you tip it over, what comes ou t is winning. I hate to give Buddy a compliment—so I won’t—but number 7 on ou r team really brought a defensive mentality tonight and hit some big shots. He s till stinks, though (laughs). Q: Steve mentioned spacing is crucial for Steph to get the defender off. How do you see that part progressing? Keep creating space. Jimmy: Space or no space, Steph is gonna Steph. I see on instagram all the time that he making incredible shots and getting the balls to everybody to where they are comfortable in space. I think he has the toughest job in the league, and he handles it with grace. He’s always smiling—teammate of the year. He’s great for a reason. Q: In your playoff experience, is there a point in a series when you know“we kn ow we got them”? Have you guys reached that yet? Jimmy: Yes, that point is when you win four games. We got need one more to get. You can’t let your guard down. It has been a dogfight every game. It could go e ither way. But I’m glad the way it’s going is for the Warriors. Q: We haven’t talked to you since the injury. Have you had an injury like that before? Do you have any issue on how it happened? Jimmy: No, I fell on my tailbone before, but not as hard as I hit it that time. Didn’t like it, wasn’t a great feeling. More than anything I just wanted to pl ay. This is the best time of year—this is why you go through what you go throug h. So missing a game i don’t like it. But I’m back—and I’m back in a big way . Q: Are you wearing a pad? Jimmy: No pad for me. I’m not Steph, so I don’t need that. Q: What will it take to close things out in Houston? Jimmy: More togetherness, better rebounding, making shots—that always helps. Bu t mostly, stay poised. There will be techs, but we’ve got to keep everyone in t he game. Q: Draymond got early fouls and an early tech. What did you see from him tonight ? Jimmy: And a flagrant. Q: How to you see from him and his ability to say on the court and just be there for the last play? Jimmy: I won’t call it growth—he knows we must have Draymond Green on the floo r in order to win. Everything he does gets blown out of proportion, because if i t was anybody else, it wouldn’t be that. But he stayed calm, got stops, got us going offensively. He’s a special human being. That’s why he’s the hustle man of the year. Remember that. Q: You and Dillon got into it. It looked like you guys were having fun. What was it like out there? Did you enjoy that element of the game? Jimmy: No, we’re not having fun. Get me right on this—I don’t like Dillon Bro oks, so we’re never having fun. I’m a fierce competitor, and he’s a fierce co mpetitor. But there’s nothing fun about that. Q: When I look at the pictures, it seemed like he was trying to have fun, but yo u weren’t going for it. Jimmy: No, I’m not going for that. And I don’t think anybody is trying to be f riends with anyone on either team, that’s for sure. Fun is winning. Fun is comp eting. And it’s going to be fun whenever we get four. Q: How would you describe that second quarter, where you guys gave up 15 points off turnovers, and there were review after review? Jimmy: Part of the game. This game is a game of runs. They’re going to have the irs, we’re going to have ours. Like I always say, stay poised. Stop turning the ball over in the first place and you won’t have to worry about it. And in the end, we’re good enough, and we have enough. Q: I heard earlier you said you got your joy back, which was a big thing for you a couple months ago. Is that joy from winning or from winning with this group? Jimmy: Definitely because of winning. Definitely because I’m able to be who I a m—who I’ve made myself out to be these past few years in this league. But more than anything, it’s just fun. I get to play basketball. I get to come into wor k knowing I’ll be able to play these games, play in the playoffs, and help us d o something special. Q: Speaking of fun—how did you come up with the Steph Bat Light with the Steph logo? Who on your team comes up with that stuff? Are you having fun with the soc ial media side, too? Jimmy: Yeah, I am. I’m having a lot of fun on socials. The Bat Signal—my conte nt guys came up with it, but it was my idea. That’s who he is to me, to us, to y’all, to the world. Q: Is Alfred going to get any love anytime soon? Jimmy: I don’t know. Who do you think Alfred would be? Q: Buddy. I think Buddy thinks he’s Alfred. Jimmy: NO NO NO! That is not the right answer. No, no. Buddy is not in this. Bu ddy’s the Joker or something. He’s the evil man.
Q: What did you see from Alperen Sengün tonight to be as aggressive as he wa inside, especially in the second half? Adams: That’s what it was—being aggressive. That’s a key thing. Not worried s o much about the outcome of the shot… Mainly just, yeah, the aggressiveness is the main value of how he needs to attack. It’s not the outcome of the shot, bec ause if he’s playing that aggressive, the manipulation of the defenses—you’ll see it. If you’re kind of passive, the defense won’t move. So it’s tough to get the back sides and get openings, you know? So he did a really good job in th at sense. Q: How are you seeing the Warriors adjust to the double-big lineup now that you guys have used it in a couple different games against them? Adams: Yeah, I mean they’re just executing. They’re throwing out different lin eups. I mean they went with their own kind of double-big. They had a dude in the dunker spot—I forgot his name. Jackson-Davis. So they played him during our do uble-big, had him in the dunker spot. Same with Gary Payton on that side. That w as different, because they had two non-shooters. Again, they’re just throwing d ifferent things at the double-big. I think we’re doing a pretty good job adjust ing as we go, to what personnel is coming in, and treating it accordingly. Q: You’ve been in a lot of playoff battles. What’s the message going home for Game 5, facing elimination? Adams: Just focus on the game. There’s nothing more, nothing less. It’s anothe r game. We learned some things this game. We’ve been learning this whole time, this whole series. It’s been really good for us. So just go into Game 5, make s ome adjustments if needed, and get ready for another battle. Q: Each game here seems to feature a lot of flailing limbs from Draymond, scuffl es, stuff like that. Does that personally annoy you? Or does it roll off your ba ck? How do you handle that? Adams: It’s just part of the game, bro. Look, it’s highly competitive out ther e. The playoffs is a different level of competition from the regular season. Peo ple are playing hard—really hard. Sometimes things happen. It’s not ill-intent ioned. I think everyone’s just trying to win. Q: Do you view all of what he’s doing as inside the bounds, so to speak? Adams: Well, yeah. That’s what the refs are there for, mate. If it’s anything outside of that, the refs will call it. So there’s nothing to do with what we t hink. You don’t need to waste your time speculating any of that. We’ve got eno ugh to think about in the game. The ref’s job is to make sure they stay within the boundaries. Q: In that first kind of scrum in the first half, it looked like you and Post we re playing the peacemaker—you grabbed him and walked off. Is that accurate? Adams: Yeah, I guess so. It’s just one of those things, bro. We’re just trying to separate them. Just keep it basketball. Don’t want it to get too ugly and m ake the game lame. You know what I mean? Because it will make it lame if ther’ s a lot of tussles and stuff. Again, it’s natural—highly competitive environme nt. Emotions are going to run high. You don’t need to overdo it. Just stay with in reason, mate. It’s okay. A little back and forth—carry on playing, mate. It ’ll be a good game after that.
