Clijsters warmed up for the grasscourt grand slam by winning the Eastbourne tournament on Saturday and will arrive at Wimbledon in buoyant mood. ADVERTISEMENT "Kim can play very good tennis on grass, it's probably her favourite surface," said the 23-year-old Henin-Hardenne, who will be bidding to win her first Wimbledon title. "She is going to be very dangerous. I have a lot of respect for Kim, she is a great player and will win a grand slam title one day." Illness and injuries meant neither Clijsters nor Henin-Hardene played at Wimbledon last year, but they have been the most consistent performers on the circuit this season. Henin-Hardenne has lost only one match all year since returning from a knee injury in April, marching through the claycourt season undefeated, culminating in her second Roland Garros title earlier this month. Clijsters, who has battled back from a career-threatening wrist injury, completed a rare double when she won both the Indian Wells and Miami titles in quick succession to vault her up the world rankings. The diminutive Henin-Hardenne needs a Wimbledon title to complete her haul of all four grand slam tournaments. She says she is now better equipped than when she lost to Venus Williams in the 2001 final. "I was only a set away from winning it but really I was much further away than that," she told reporters. "Venus was much too strong then. "My serve and my forehand are much better than they were when I last played here two years ago. I'm very motivated and it would be a great achievement if I can do it." Henin-Hardenne, seeded seven, faces a tough opening to her Wimbledon campaign, being drawn to play Greek Eleni Daniilidou in the first round. She could face Serena Williams in the quarter-finals and possibly defending champion Maria Sharapova in the last four. "It's going to be a tough mission to beat Maria on grass," said Henin-Hardenne. "She is so tall and hits the ball hard, she's tough on the fast surfaces. "She has never been in the situation where she is defending a grand slam title before, but I'm sure she will deal with the situation." Clijsters, the 15th seed, plays Briton Katie O'Brien in the first round and is on collision course to play top seed Lindsay Davenport in the fourth round. 希望他們都能各自晉級到決賽囉~~~ -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.167.209.187 ※ 編輯: JustinWang 來自: 218.167.209.187 (06/19 15:34)
