Kim Clijsters routed Venus Williams in Saturday's final to collect her second
title in Miami and third of her comeback, which began last August following
an almost two-and-a-half-year retirement. She went from unranked all the way
to No.19 following her US Open triumph in September and rose from No.16 to
No.10 after her latest victory. This is her 268th week spent in the Top 10.
Clijsters' semifinal victim in Miami - Justine Henin - is still looking for
the first title of her comeback, which began in January following a retirement
of more than a year and a half, however, she continues to consistently go
deep into tournaments. The Brisbane and Australian Open runner-up, who rose
from unranked to No.33 before Miami, is up to No.23 now.
Another player who made a noteworthy move was Aravane Rezai, who despite
losing her first match in Miami, went from No.21 to No.20 - her Top 20 debut.
She is France's second-highest ranked player behind No.12 Marion Bartoli.
