Barbourville, Ky.- Bethel's Cordarious Mann set a new school record for
touchdowns in a game with seven but the Wildcats could not find a way to stop
the Union College offense and fell to the Bulldogs 84-55 Saturday in
Barbourville.The two teams came within two points of setting a new NAIA
record for points in a single game. The record is 141 set in 1994 by
Southwestern (Kan.) and Sterling (Kan.) in a game won by Southwestern 79-62.
Union's Armond Smith rushed for 312 yards and five TD's setting new records
for the Bulldogs.
Mann carried the ball 27 times for 262 yards and five touchdowns. He caught
four passes for 67 yards and a pair of scores as he scored seven of the Cat's
eight touchdowns.
Bethel quarterback Troy Watson threw two touchdown passes and finished with
280 yards in the air. Jahron Reynolds caught seven passes for 88 yards.
The two teams combined for 1, 501 total yards and 67 first downs. Bethel had
95 snaps in the contest as compared to 55 for Union.
