[閒聊] Playoff performance for A-Rod

You knew the Yankees were in trouble when A-Rod said about 10 days about that
they had to treat every game like the playoffs.
Tonight was a vintage October performance for Rodriguez: 0 for 5, two
strikeouts, two GIDPs and an error. He is 18 of 73 (.247) on the season with
runners in scoring position this season and has one RBI in the last seven
games.
The game was decided in the seventh inning when Boston rookie Justin
Masterson got Rodriguez to swing weakly at a hard slider, right into a double
play.
“It was an awful night,” Rodriguez said. “For me personally, it was a long
night. I pretty much screwed it up any way you can screw it up.”
Joe Girardi’s take?
“It’s one game. Tomorrow’s a new day,” he said with his usual optimism.
Girardi is certainly not getting fired this season, nor should be. It’s not
his fault. But those who expected that he would be some fiery Billy
Martin-type leader did not get what they thought.
It’s shocking how little fight the Yankees have shown in big spots this
season. At this time last season, nearly to the day, the Yankees were
sweeping the Red Sox and steamrolling to the playoffs.
Now the need to find a way to win the final two games of this series just to
make the final few weeks interesting.
By the way, Toronto has A.J. Burnett lined up for Friday and Roy Halladay for
Sunday. Then comes a 10-day road trip. It’s not going to get easier.
“We are definitely digging ourselves a big trench to climb out of,” said
Johnny Damon.
