As for Jason Giambi, another Tellem client, he would like to stay a Yankee.
"We will see what happens. He would like to stay in New York if they want
him," Tellem said of Giambi, who batted .247 with 32 homers and 96 RBIs.
Giambi made $21 million this past season, and there is a $22 million option
for 2009 that won't be picked up. Though the Yankees want to get younger and
more athletic, Giambi (37 in January) could return on a one-year deal if the
Yankees can't find a suitable replacement at first base.
So far they haven't been wild about chasing free-agent first baseman
Mark Teixeira.
