Pirates — of course — claim Claggett
The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed 25-year-old RHP Anthony Claggett off waivers
from the Yankees.
Claggett, obtained from Detroit in the Gary Sheffield trade in November 2006,
had a 33.75 ERA in 2.2 innings in two appearances for the Yankees. He also
was 7-7 with a 3.07 ERA in 34 relief appearances and five starts for
Triple-A Scranton.
The Pirates now have Claggett, Ross Ohlendorf, Steven Jackson, Dan McCutchen,
Jose Tabata and Jeff Karstens.
There has to be a way they’ll agree to take Kei Igawa.
UPDATE, 9:14 p.m.: As an alert reader pointed out, the Pirates also
have RHP Eric Hacker, another former Yankee. So the Pirates have six
former Yankees on their 40-man roster. Amazing.
