Damon went 1-for-12 in the series against the Twins, striking out four times in the third and final game of the Yankees' sweep. His dismal series came after he finished the season on a 25-game homerless streak and a .156 stretch (5-for-32) over the final nine games, but Joe Girardi expressed confidence in the veteran. "We know that Johnny can get real hot, real fast," Girardi said. "I feel good about Johnny." Damon was hardly the only Yankees hitter to struggle, as only Alex Rodriguez (.455), Derek Jeter (.400) and Jorge Posada (.364) hit above .222 in the AL division series. LEFT OUT: Girardi said he doesn't expect "a ton of changes" to the roster for the ALCS, but Marte appears to be the player most likely to lose his spot, possibly to Brian Bruney. With Bobby Abreu representing the only true lefthanded hitter on the Angels - there are four switch-hitters in their lineup - the Yankees may opt to carry Coke as the only lefty in the bullpen. "We'll talk about everything," said Girardi, who will meet with his staff, general manager Brian Cashman and the team's scouts this morning. "That's something we'll consider."
