NEW YORK -- Washington Nationals minor league infielder Seth Bynum has been suspended 50 games for violating the minor league drug program. The commissioner's office announced Thursday that Bynum, who plays for Triple-A Syracuse, will immediately begin serving his suspension for a positive test for an amphetamine. Strasburg is expected to pitch on six days' rest. Strasburg is being given the extra day in accordance to the pitching plan laid out by general manager Mike Rizzo, pitching coordinator Spin Williams and pitching coach Steve McCatty. The team is giving Strasburg the occasional extra day to help him better withstand the rigors of an entire pro season. Rizzo has declined to give a day as to when Strasburg will make his Major League debut. There are reports that Strasburg could start on June 8 against the Pirates at Nationals Park. At least two of his teammates are looking forward to his arrival in the big leagues. "I'm excited as anyone, but we have a lot of games in between the time he gets here," first baseman Adam Dunn said. "He will be a welcome addition for sure. If you like 97 mile-an-hour sinkers with huge curveballs and changeups, that's what he has. He is really good. He is a legit No. 1 [starter]." Reliever Doug Slaten watched Strasburg, the top pick overall in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, pitch one game while both were in Syracuse. Slaten came away impressed. "Everything they ever said about him is true. He lives up to the hype," Slaten said. "I think he can add a lot to the Major League pitching staff.
