[荷甲]Ajax recover from early shock
AMSTERDAM, Oct 5 (Reuters)
Ajax Amsterdam regained the lead in the Dutch first division on Sunday
with a 3-1 win at Groningen.
The Ajax players awoke on Sunday to discover that their club coach had
been destroyed by fire, but they did not let that distract them from a
valuable victory.
Ajax have 18 points from seven matches, two more than PSV Eindhoven and
AZ Alkmaar. Heerenveen are fourth with 15 points and Feyenoord fifth with
13 after a 2-0 win over RBC Roosendaal.
Groningen stunned Ajax when Arvid Smit opened the scoring after 20 minutes.
But their lead lasted only six minutes as Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic equalised
for the Amsterdam side.
Nine minutes from time Wesley Sonck gave Ajax the lead before Romanian
youngster Nicolae Mitea sealed Groningen's first home defeat since November
3 last year.
Feyenoord struggled against RBC Roosendaal despite an early goal by Robin
van Persie. They did not make sure of the points until stoppage time through
substitute Anthony Lurling.
At the bottom Zwolle grabbed their second point of the season with a 2-2
draw at Volendam. Jack Tuyp opened for the home side but Jasar Takak and
Gorgi Hristov scored for Zwolle before the interval.
Karim Bridji salvaged a point for Volendam in the 72nd minute.
On Saturday Wilfred Bouma opened the scoring for PSV in the second minute
of their 4-0 defeat of ADO Den Haag -- a win they achieved despite being
reduced to 10 men when top scorer Mateja Kezman was sent off for elbowing
Jeffrey van As in the 29th minute.
John de Jong doubled PSV's lead in the 54th minute before Dennis Rommedahl
and Arjen Robben completed the rout.
AZ full back Peter Wijker scored in the first minute against visitors NEC
Nijmegen and the hosts fifth win of the season was secured in injury time
when striker Ali Elkhattabi converted a penalty.
Heerenveen jumped above RKC Waalwijk into fourth spot thanks to Richard
Knopper's winner in the final minute of the first half.
Utrecht sealed their second win of the season, 2-1 at NAC Breda. Both
UEFA Cup contenders started strongly before Swede Johan Elmander opened
the scoring for NAC just before halftime.
Donny de Groot equalised with 11 minutes remaining before an own goal by
Marcel Koning settled the points.
On Friday Twente Enschede beat Vitesse Arnhem 5-3 with Collins John twice
on target after Arnhem's Purrel Frankel had scored an own goal after 29
seconds.
