[歐冠] Celta v Ajax 賽前報導
Celta de Vigo are still searching for their first UEFA Champions League
victory as AFC Ajax come to Spain.
Celta struggling
Ajax edged to a 1-0 home win against Celta on Matchday 3, a victory that
left them two points clear at the top of Group H, and the Galicians bottom.
Celta had previously drawn with Club Brugge and holders AC Milan, but their
domestic form has been disappointing, and defeat at home by Real Racing Club
Santander on Saturday left them 16th in the Primera Division.
Plea to fans
As a result, Celta coach Miguel Angel Lotina has made a plea for the
disappointed fans in the Balaidos stadium to get back behind their team after
recent reverses. "I do not blame them for their attitude on Saturday, because
first of all, we have to get them behind us," he said. "All I ask is that our
rivals know they are playing away from home.
'High hopes'
"It is true Saturday's defeat was a blow, but we have high hopes in this
competition and nobody can take them away from us, even though things are not
going that well in the league." However, the coach admitted that playing on two
stages - domestic and European - was taking its toll on the squad.
Injury worries
"Physically we are quite tired and are missing some important players,"
said Lotina, who is without Edu and Juanfran through injury, while Everton
Giovanella and Jose Ignacio are both suspended and there are doubts surrounding
the participation of Eduardo Berizzo, Vagner and Aleksandr Mostovoi. "It is not
that those who will play are going to do badly, but I am worried that we could
be unbalanced in some positions."
'Undeserved' win
As for Ajax, Lotina has a high opinion of his opponents - but refuses to accept
his side were outplayed in the Amsterdam ArenA. He said: "They are one of the
best teams in Europe, but despite that, they beat us in Amsterdam without
deserving to."
Positive Koeman
Ajax coach Ronald Koeman, meanwhile, knows the importance of three points
with his side already in a strong position. "We are playing away from home, and
any positive result is good for our chances of winning the group," he said.
'A good team'
Talking about Celta's indifferent domestic home form, Koeman said:
"I really do not care about their results in the league. We have been looking
at the videos of their games and from what we have seen, Celta still look to be
a good team." However, without the selection problems that his opposite number
Lotina is currently facing, and with his side top of the Eredivisie after a
weekend win against AZ, Koeman can afford some pride in Ajax's position.
