Not that it's my business to tell the New Jersey Nets what to do, but if I
could have Melvin Ely for Jeff McInnis and a second-round pick, I'd jump all
over it.
The Nets know McInnis isn't in their future, and Ely just might have the
low-post scoring to help New Jersey secure the Atlantic Division. To me, a
second-round pick is tip money in that transaction.
‧ Technically, Ely could veto a trade under the collective bargaining
agreement, since he's playing under a one-year contract. But he told me Friday
night he'd be for going to the Nets if it meant playing time.
He sat out all of the Pacers game, with Sean May back from a sprained right
ankle.
