He is already responsible for changing the Nets in one way: With Magloire's salary added to the payroll, the team waived energetic, second-year wing Hassan Adams just to get back under the luxury tax threshold. NBA teams with salaries exceeding the $67.8-million mark for 2007-08 will have to pay a dollar-for-dollar tax next year; removing Adams' unguaranteed, $687,456 salary gets the Nets down to $67.5 million. Though Thorn did not admit it, the move could have been avoided had the Nets found someone to take the guaranteed salaries of Mile Ilic ($850,000) or Bernard Robinson ($1.08M) off their hands, but there were no takers. "Trust me, nobody wanted this to happen," Frank said of the Adams move. "We loved Hassan." Thorn said his team still has to add another combo-guard type, but their primary free-agent target -- Jannero Pargo, late of New Orleans -- figures to be out of their price range.
