Re: [情報] 關於 Allan Houston
Houston giving Knicks, not Nets, best shot

Allan Houston took another step toward his attempted comeback yesterday,
scrimmaging with a group of young players at the Nets' practice facility near
the Meadowlands.
But his agent suggested the shooting guard might prefer to return to the
Knicks. Houston has also worked out at the Knicks' facility in Greenburgh
several times recently, according to the agent, Bill Strickland.
Strickland said that the former Knick star is strongly considering rejoining
the team he played with for nine seasons before an arthritic left knee forced
him into retirement nearly two years ago. The Knicks, like the Nets, have
invited Houston to training camp, which begins in less than two weeks.
Neither team has offered the 36-year-old a guaranteed deal, and neither is
likely to do so unless he makes the club.
Although Houston is also weighing the Nets' offer to attend camp, Strickland
emphasized that they don't necessarily hold an advantage just because they
seemingly offer a perk that the Knicks don't - a chance to win.
When asked if the Knicks hold an edge because of Houston's history with the
team - particularly the fact that they once gave him a $100 million contract
- Strickland said, "Yes."
Strickland also said that on Houston's list of considerations, money and a
shot at a ring are secondary to his desire to "go out on his own terms,"
which could suggest that Houston would like the opportunity to resolve some
of the business he left unfinished with the Knicks when his injury forced him
to quit during the 2004-05 season.
Jason Kidd, who played with Houston during the 2000 Olympics, said yesterday
that he is supposed to play golf with him this week. But Kidd said he has no
intention of turning a relaxing day on the links into a business-like
recruiting visit on behalf of the Nets - he has already had that talk with
Houston recently.
"I just told him it would be great for him to be part of the family, not just
for his shooting, but (for his) leadership," Kidd said after escorting
contest winner Kyle Greve to his fifth-grade class at the Lafayette
Elementary School in Wayne, N.J. "It would make our bench stronger. And
you're talking about a veteran guy who just wants to win.
"I really think it would be a great fit," said Kidd.
Nets president Rod Thorn, who did not watch Houston's workout yesterday, said
he was told by Lawrence Frank and general manager Ed Stefanski that Houston
is in "great shape." He also suggested that whatever happens is up to Houston.
"All it comes down to is Allan deciding what he wants to do," said Thorn.
