Michael Owen scored twice in England's vital 3-0 victory over Russia at
Wembley on Wednesday evening.
The double takes Owen to 40 goals in 85 games for his country as he closes
in on Jimmy Greaves, Gary Lineker and Bobby Charlton in the all-time England
scorer list.

Owen's first strike was a tidy finish as a Gareth Barry cross fell at his
feet in the area and tucked the ball inside the far post.
His second was better as he smartly dispatched a flick-on from Emile Heskey
over the Russian 'keeper to make it three goals in two games in just four
days.
And to cap an excellent night for the man of the match he even set up Rio
Ferdinand for England's third.

Michael Owen scored two and made the other completed 91 minutes before
being substituted by Downing in injury time. Alan Smith didn't feature.
Czech Republic 1 Ireland 0
Rozehnal played the full 90 minutes.
Ireland's hopes of qualification were virtually ended as Shay's side were
beaten in Prague. Given got another cap to extend his record and played
the full game.
