Sorensen completes Villa move
Soccer.Net
Thomas Sorensen will move from Sunderland to Aston Villa.
The Denmark international has agreed a three-year deal at Villa Park
after the two clubs agreed a £2.25 million fee last month.
The deal is dependent on the results of a medical but a Villa statement
said: `The parties expect to complete the transaction by close of business
today.'
He becomes new Villa boss David O'Leary's second signing from the Stadium
of Light this summer, following Gavin McCann's move.
Sorensen is expected to displace Peter Enckelman as Villa's first-choice
keeper this year.
O'Leary had targeted his former Leeds keeper Paul Robinson, who rejected
a move to Villa Park.
Sorensen follows McCann, Jody Craddock and David Bellion in leaving
Sunderland after their relegation to the First Division.
The cash-strapped Black Cats were keen to offload some of their bigger
earners and Sorensen had lost his squad number of 1 to Mart Poom.
