STOCKHOLM, Aug 19 (Reuters) - Sweden coach Tommy Soderberg is to retire
from his post after the European championship in Portugal next year.
"The dream is to finish everything in Portugal, then I'll step aside,"
Soderberg told the Swedish daily Aftonbladet.
Soderberg has coached Sweden since 1997 and currently shares the role
with Lars 'Lasse' Lagerback.
"I think everyone feels that new blood is needed," he said. "New coaches
will always turn up. Maybe 'Lasse' will continue alone."
Sweden, who top Euro 2004 qualifying Group Four equal on 11 points with
Hungary, face San Marino and Poland in their next two qualifiers in September.
"Our goal is to get to Portugal ... We have the group win in our hands,"
Soderberg added.
