April 7, 2008 -- STATS goes inside the numbers and provides a weekly look at the most noteworthy boxscore happenings in the NBA. This is the 23rd installment of the season, covering games from March 31-April 6. ==========================melo====================================== Carmelo Anthony scored 47 points in Denver’s 118-115 loss to the Kings on Saturday, shooting shot 19-for-24 from the field and making all six of his free throws. That is the most points scored by a player who missed five shots or less (field goals + free throws) since Dana Barros went for 50 points (21-for-26 from the field, 2-for-2 from the line) for the Sixers on March 14, 1995. ===========================end====================================== Chris Paul has taken over the assist lead from Steve Nash and could become just the fifth player in NBA history to lead the league in both assists and steals per game, joining Don (Slick) Watts, Don Buse, Micheal Ray Richardson and John Stockton. Kobe Bryant currently leads the league in total points scored this season. This would be his fourth time doing so, something only Michael Jordan (11), Wilt Chamberlain (7) and George Gervin (4) have accomplished in league history. The Lakers got 31 points from Lamar Odom and 25 from both Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol in their 112-108 win over the Mavericks on Friday. It was the first time that Los Angeles had three players reach 25 points in a game since Odom, Chucky Atkins and Tierre Brown did so on February 7, 2005 at Atlanta. It was also the first time in Kobe’s career that Bryant scored 25 points in a game that two of his teammates also reached the 25-point mark. ===========================小AI==================================== Andre Iguodala had 30 points and 10 assists in the Philadelphia’s 109-104 win at Atlanta on Friday. Iguodala became the first Sixer other than Allen Iverson to have at least 30 points and 10 assists in a game since Jeff Hornacek had 32 points and 10 assists in a triple-overtime win over the Miami Heat on November 20, 1992. ===========================END===================================== Phoenix scored just nine points in the fourth quarter of its 105-98 loss to Dallas on Sunday. It was the first time that the Suns scored fewer than 10 points in any quarter of a defeat since January 15, 2003, when they were held to eight second-quarter points in a 102-96 loss at Houston. The Spurs beat the Trail Blazers for the 12th straight time on Sunday, tied for the NBA’s longest current winning streak over any team. The Mavericks, who have also won 12 straight against the SuperSonics, will face Seattle twice this week. Utah has won 25 of its last 26 home games, including six in a row, and is shooting .512 from the field at EnergySolutions Arena for the season.
