Re: [情報] M.Tejada
Tejada takes batting practice
Orioles shortstop eager to return but team cautious.
Tejada moved one step closer to returning from the disabled list Tuesday, when
he took 50 swings of batting practice and spent 20 minutes fielding ground
balls at Safeco Field. The four-time All-Star is still recovering from a broken
bone in his left wrist and hopes to be activated by the end of the month.
Tejada, who had played in 1,152 consecutive games before his injury, said the
layoff has freshened his legs.
"I feel really good," he said before taking his cuts on Tuesday. "I don't think
it's going to take me a lot of time to get ready. I think as soon as they say I
can play and I can swing, I'm going to be ready to play."
Tejada said that he's spent the last 20 days working with a physical trainer in
preparation for his return. He also said that he's felt no pain in his wrist,
which makes him think he could move quickly through rehab.
"I'm excited to go back there and play. I'm excited to put on a uniform and do
what I do," Tejada said. "I'm going to start another streak. ... Like I always
say, I play this game not because I have a streak, but because I love this
game.
Interim manager Dave Trembley said that the Orioles are in the strange position
of slowing Tejada down and making sure that he's completely healthy before he
returns from the disabled list. The last thing the team wants to see is its
best player headed right back to the DL, so Trembley knows he has to be as
careful as possible.
"This guy's working. ... And he's having fun doing it," Trembley said. "We've
had to hold him back from baseball activities because he wants to rush that
part of the program a little bit."
Tejada, a man with a legendary pain tolerance, took 50 swings of batting
practice Tuesday. He also took 10 dry swings, 10 off a tee and a couple rounds
of soft-toss. The Orioles expect him to advance to live batting practice next
week, and if that works out, they'll send him on a brief Minor League rehab
stint.
Tejada said that if his next doctor's appointment checks out, he'd like to
return for the July 27 game against the Yankees.
"When they say I'm ready to do everything, I'm going to take like three days of
live BP," he said. "Then, I can play one game in the Minor Leagues, and then I
can play the second day against the Yankees -- If they let me do it. But that's
not like it has to happen. That's just what I think. ... If they decide that
I'm fine, I think by next weekend that I should be playing."
"I don't think anybody can make a call on that," added Trembley. "We still have
an obligation on July 24 -- that Tuesday -- to get him reexamined and get
re-X-rayed before he gets clearance to do what I've called Phase II of his
program."

Let's go Orioles.
