O's could still deal Millwood
The name Kevin Millwood has been floated as trade bait in
recent weeks, but any talks are on hold after the Orioles
right-hander went on the disabled list Tuesday with a
right forearm strain.
Millwood's marketability took another hit Monday in Detroit
when he allowed five runs in one inning, the third-shortest
start of his 14-season career. He is 2-8 with a 5.77 ERA
this season.
The Orioles needed to make a roster move in order to activate
outfielder Felix Pie, so the decision was made to disable
Millwood.
Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun writes that the DL stint
will have little impact on Millwood's trade value. He likely
would pass through waivers because of his hefty contract,
meaning he could be traded in August if he pitches well when
he returns.
