Marion Superior Court Judge Linda E. Brown ordered Williams to return to court by Monday afternoon. If he doesn't , she will issue a warrant for his arrest. During a pretrial hearing this morning, the judge asked Williams' attorney, John Tompkins, why he wasn't there. "I cannot tell you that, judge," Tompkins said. "I have not been able to reach him this morning." Outside court, Tompkins said he had told Williams he needed to attend. Williams didn't go to his initial hearing Sept. 14, but he had the judge's permission to skip that. Police arrested Williams, 21, on Sept. 11 during a traffic stop. He was charged with operating a vehicle while never having received a license, a misdemeanor, and two traffic citations, driving with expired license plates and failing to signal a lane change. Two passengers were arrested on marijuana possession and handgun charges. Tompkins and David Wyser, the prosecutor's chief trial deputy, said Williams plans to plead guilty to the misdemeanor charge.
