For the guys that are chosen in the top twenty there is a major sense of accomplishment from achieving what is usually a lifelong dream. Once you get deeper into the draft though players start to wonder why their name hasn't been called yet and start to become frustrated. It becomes motivation after a certain point that so-and-so was chosen before you, or that the same team passed up on you multiple times. Tayshaun Prince, Rashard Lewis, Carlos Boozer and Carl Landry have made plenty of NBA teams regret passing up on them, and here is a look at some late first to early second round players who will do the same next year: Kosta Koufos - 7'0 C Ohio State After a disappointing one year stay at Ohio State there are some questions about how good of a player Koufos is. He was considered to be a high lottery pick going into this past season, but right now he has fallen down on some boards all the way to the late 20's. Koufos showed at OSU that he is not a true center but if he gets picked up by a team like Orlando, Houston, or San Antonio he is going to be a very effective player immediately. Koufos has a pro-ready skill set, but isn't quite ready physically yet. Playing alongside Dwight, Duncan, or Yao though would make that a non issue. Seven footers with his kind of abilities don't come along very often, but will make a lot of teams hesitant to pick him up is his willingness to come play right away or go overseas for a year or two. Brandon Rush - 6'6 SF Kansas If you look at what Brandon Rush did individually throughout his entire career at Kansas compared to expectations it would be easy to think he underachieved. Rather than becoming a star at Kansas though, Rush became a leader and a much better all-around player. Once thought to be just an offensive powerhouse, Rush now looks poised to become a solid defender at the next level. He's also the team-first type player that will fit in right away on any of the veteran squads he's slated to fall to right now. Mario Chalmers - 6'2 PG Kansas Everyone talks about the big shot he hit to send the national championship game to overtime, but Chalmers is also one of the best defenders in this draft. With Darren Collison dropping out Chalmers is hands down the second best defender at the point guard position behind Derrick Rose. At Kansas he had a calming influence over his team similar to Chauncy Billups for the Pistons, and that is a characteristic that usually translates well. Chalmers will likely end up being a second rounder, but he will become a very solid and dependable role player. Ryan Anderson - 6'10 PF California Like JJ Hickson Ryan Anderson should probably be returning to school for another year because he's has so much room to improve and lottery pick potential. Whether or not he's going to stay in the draft is still up in the air, but should he decide to stay an investment in Anderson is like getting an early first rounder come 2009 or 2010. Offensively he's a very skilled player that should be able to produce in a wide variety of ways early. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.114.128.146
