He stepped in for Clay Hensley on Saturday against Arizona, going 5 2/3 innings and giving up four earned runs on six hits, walking three and striking out two. He moves his fastball up and down and pounds the strike zone. He came back to pitch four innings of relief in a win over Arizona on Sunday. Peavy was in dominant form again on Tuesday night against the Dodgers, holding them scoreless on three hits in seven innings, walking one and striking out seven. He leads the NL in strikeouts per nine innings (9.7) and owns a 1.89 ERA in August, walking 11 and striking out 33 in 33 1/3 innings.
