And as quickly and nearly as fast as the query was asked, Head Coach Byron Scott responded. The only name that stands out: Ryan Bowen. Bowen is expected to see more playing time in the coming games, Hornets Head Coach Byron Scott said. Yes, that Ryan Bowen. The same player who couldn’t get off the bench or wasn ’t even active for a month straight between Christmas and the end of January. On Thursday, Scott said changes will be coming. He wasn’t lying. Nothing about Bowen, a fan favorite and all around great guy, but the fact that Scott has to insert him into the lineup shows just how dire the situation the Hornets find themselves in is. No Chris Paul or Tyson Chandler has turned into an all-out head-scratching scenario for Scott and New Orleans (28-18), who look to end a four-game slide against the 19-32 Toronto Raptors tonight at 7 in the New Orleans Arena. “They’ll understand after the change tonight that I’m serious about us coming in and competing every night,” Scott said. That’s at least one right thing the head coach is saying, though not a positive thing. He has to insert a player he didn't think was good enough to leave the bench for a month, a player averaging 3.3 points and 1.7 rebounds per game, to show his team playing with energy is important. “Ryan definitely brings that,” Scott said. “The last few games he has played, he has played well. It’s no secret I’m not happy the last week or so with the way Mel (Ely) or Hilton (Armstrong) have been playing.
