Perhaps if leadoff man Ben Revere could have gotten a bunt down in the 12th inning, the point would have been moot. After Carlos Ruiz led off the inning with a single to center, Revere popped up on a bunt attempt. Never mind that Revere tripled to start a rally in the eighth inning and singled to lead off the 10th only to be left standing on third — the misses in the 12th and 14th loomed large. It was a little maddening, too. After Reid Brignac walked and Ruiz singled to put two on with no outs in the 14th, Revere flailed and failed to get down a bunt after three jabs at it in the 14th. Perhaps the game would have continued if Revere got the bunt down in the 14th.
