打擊很好不過沒有炮瓦，應該可以留在游擊
BA選前排第29，而ESPN的 Keith Law在五月把他擺在...第2(個位數 後面沒了)
The best college hitter in the class, Newman can stay at shortstop, is a
plus runner and has hit everywhere he has played by employing great hand-eye
coordination and excellent bat speed. The lack of power might turn off some
teams, but he's strong enough to drive the ball once he closes his stance.
被問到為什麼其他人把他擺在20~30後面，Law的說法:
Because I think the "industry" is wrong (and, BTW, I know plenty of scouts
who agree with me). He's a true shortstop and 60 runner with a plus hit tool
and a history of hitting for average and high contact rates. He was the
second-hardest draft prospect to strike out in D1 this year, and he's hit
everywhere, including two summers on the Cape. What exactly am I supposed to
dislike here?
John Sickles:
Junior, hits right, batted .370/.426/.489 with 22 steals, 20/15 BB/K in 227
at-bats. Won two Cape Cod League batting titles so record with wood is good,
doesn’t have as much power as Swanson or Bregman but can definitely stay at
shortstop. Polished in general and won't need a great deal of minor league
time. Some sources regard him as significantly under-rated.

If Cleveland is the best drafting team in the American League, Pittsburgh
would be my choice for best drafting team in the NL, and this was another
great pick. Newman is a lock to stick at shortstop, and as seen in his
back-to-back batting titles, he has a very advanced hit-tool—possibly even
plus-plus. The power is a 30 right now on the 20-80 scale, but some
adjustments with the lower half could see it tick up a grade. I thought he
was a top-10 talent, and getting him at 19 is a fantastic result for the
Pirates.
