http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=7172541&source=MLB Wilson was very highly regarded out of Harvard-Westlake HS in California, which also graduated Max Fried, Lucas Giolito and is currently has top 2013 Draft Prospect Arden Pabst and 2014 draft prospect Jack Flaherty. Obviously it is a hell of a baseball school. He was a top 20 type of talent for sure. I had him 9th in my 2010 rankings. A strong commitment to Stanford caused him to slide to the 12th round to the Cardinals. They made an effort to sign him but didn’t meet his demand, which was reportedly north of $4 million. At 6’5", 245 pounds, up at least 30 since high school, he passes the eye test. Just looking at him makes you dream on the superstar that he could develop into. He is an amazing athlete. While he isn’t fleet of foot, he isn ’t slow. He can run well under way and can even steal a handful of bases simply on instinct. He is a RF now and will be in the future. He shouldn’t have to move off the position until late in his career due to his athleticism. From the OF, he has a great arm. Probably at least a 70 on the 20-80 scouting scale. His bat has some issues. Contact can be a problem but he has progressed at this from his freshman season to his sophomore season. Power is his best tool. He is a massive person and can crush the ball. Stanford has only hindered this due to their insistence on line drives and contact. He still has hit 15 HR’s in 417 AB’s. That isn’t great but considering the teams he has faced and the new BBCOR bats, it is still very good. Off speed pitches can give him problems and his swing can get long but he can put a charge in the ball. He has the tools to be an average to above average RF in the majors. If he hits his ceiling, he could be a star. As long as he doesn’t regress this season, he should be a top 10 pick with potential to go higher if his bat improves. -- Athletic frame. High baseball IQ. Xander Smooth, fluid swing. Bogaerts Elite batspeed. #01 Strong and explosive hands. Above-average-to-better power ceiling, potential 30 home run bat. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 122.117.20.246
