Rangers add speed with Guzman, Rojas Texas acquires outfielder and pitcher from Padres The Rangers' quest to add speed to their organization has led them to acquire outfielder Freddy Guzman and pitcher Cesar Rojas from the San Diego Padres. First baseman/outfielder Vincent Sinisi and pitcher John Hudgins will head to the San Diego organization. Guzman is a 25-year-old switch-hitter who is hitting .274 with a .348 on-base percentage in 30 games for Triple-A Portland, with 15 runs scored and 11 stolen bases. He missed all of last year because of Tommy John elbow reconstruction surgery , but at one time was a major prospect for the Padres with high stolen base totals. 恩去年整年都躺在湯米強的懷抱中.... 曾經是教士隊主要的Prospect...(讓我想起ㄟ岡) He played in 66 games at Triple-A in 2004, hitting .292 with 48 runs scored and 48 stolen bases, earning a promotion to the Padres. He had 90 stolen bases in 118 games with Class A Lake Elsinore, Double-A Mobile and Portland in 2003. Sinisi was the Rangers' second-round pick in the 2003 First-Year Player Draft, an All-American out of Rice University whose career was set back by a severe broken arm suffered while playing at Class A Stockton in 2004. He is batting .271 in 32 combined games for Double-A Frisco and Oklahoma with no home runs and 16 RBIs. The Rangers signed him for $2 million. He was projected as a No. 1 pick in 2003 but was dropped because he is represented by Scott Boras and was viewed as a signing risk. The Rangers hoped he would be a top offensive prospect, but he hit just 10 home runs and drove in just 51 runs in 383 combined at-bats between Class A Bakersfield and Frisco last year. Hudgins was a third-round pick in the 2003 draft out of Stanford and is 1-1 with a 6.38 ERA at Oklahoma. He was the 2003 Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year and the Most Outstanding Player of the 2003 College World Series.
